Tennis Northland is excited to announce that Whitehouse Tennis Academy will be joining our regional coaching landscape from Term 4, 2025, with a permanent base at Thomas Neale Family Memorial Park in Whangārei.
This new partnership will expand the breadth of coaching and development opportunities available across Northland, providing more choice and new pathways for players of all ages and abilities.
“We already have a fantastic group of coaches doing great work across Northland,” said Brittany White, General Manager of Tennis Northland. “This partnership isn’t about replacing that—it’s about building on it. Adding another high-quality coaching provider into the mix gives our players more opportunities to learn, grow, and stay connected to the sport.”
Led by former Wimbledon junior champion Wesley Whitehouse, Whitehouse Tennis Academy will offer a range of coaching programmes including beginner sessions, holiday camps, junior squads, and private lessons. The academy has a strong focus on long-term athlete development and aims to complement the region’s existing coaching ecosystem.
“We're excited to bring our academy to Northland,” said Whitehouse. “Our goal is to contribute to a thriving tennis environment by offering players a clear structure, strong coaching, and the support they need—whether they’re picking up a racquet for the first time or aiming for higher levels of competition.”
Whitehouse’s playing credentials include winning the Wimbledon Junior Men's Singles title, reaching the finals of the Australian Open Juniors and US Open Juniors, and achieving a career-high ATP ranking of 214.
For Tennis Northland, the move supports its long-term strategy to provide quality experiences for all players and reduce the need for talented athletes to look outside the region for advanced coaching.
“This is another step toward creating a complete tennis pathway here in Northland,” said White. “We’re making it easier for players to stay in the region while continuing to progress, and we’re excited to welcome Wesley and his team into our community.”
The academy will officially launch in Whangārei later this year, with Term 4 programmes and enrolment details to be released soon.
