Spring Update September 2023
Welcome to the new season of tennis.
Our Love Tennis Opening Day is this Sunday, 10 September from 10am-4pm. Please come along for a hit. We will have the mini nets up for the children and some junior coaches there between 11am-2pm. Please invite any people you know who may be interested too. The barbeque will be on, and we have lots of giveaways for everyone. We really hope to see you there. There is a chance to win a trip to the Australian Open in the Love Tennis promotion!!
Junior Coaching: If you are receiving this you are currently a member of the club and we assume you wish to continue with coaching this season. Thank you to those who have let me know that they do wish to continue. If you do not intend returning in term 4 please email me as soon as possible so I can update the records and your place can be re-allocated. Many thanks.
Junior Interclub: The proposed start date is 7 October. If you played last season our junior club captain Dean Fraser will be in touch in the next few days to see if you are keen to play this season. Any coaching children keen to try interclub are welcome to contact Dean for further information. We would love to have some new young players start interclub! His email is dean.fraser@otago.ac.nz
Senior Social: Senior social days and times from 24 September are TUESDAYS from 6 pm-8pm, and SUNDAYS from 1pm at the club.
Senior Interclub: Please let Russell Drew know if you are keen to play, and in which grade. Russell's contact details are phone 0212109215 or email rdrew@xtra.co.nz The following grades are proposed for the season:
Men's Div 1- Saturdays at noon - 30 September-16 December
Women's Division - Sundays at noon - 1 October-24 March
Division 2 - Saturdays at 1 pm - 30 September-23 March
Premier Doubles - Sundays at noon - 1 October-24 March
Mixed Division - sections 1 and 2 - Saturdays at 1 pm - 30 September-23 March
(Players who play in more than one weekly interclub team will be required to pay an additional cost to cover the team entry fee.)
Wishing you an enjoyable season. If you wish to purchase a key to use the courts outside of coaching/interclub times please get in touch. The keys are $25. ( We also have a ball machine available at an annual usage cost.)
The courts are for members use outside of times when coaching is on or interclub or senior social is being played. We respectfully ask that the gate is always closed when members leave the courts. Junior Coaching will re-start in term 4 and the dates are as follows:
Wednesday - 19, 26 October, 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 November, 6 December
Friday - 28 October, 4, 11, 18, 25 November, 2, 9 December, plus Sunday 20 November
Please let me know if your child will be returning to coaching in term 4, along with whether you would like Wednesdays or Fridays. If your child is not returning an email to say so would be very much appreciated - thank you.

Senior Social Tennis days/dates change at the end of September. Weekend social tennis moves to Sundays from 25 September, 3pm-5pm at the club. Midweek evening tennis changes to THURSDAYS from 6pm-8pm at the club from Thursday 29 September.
The club now has a new computer system called ClubSpark and we will soon send out an Invite email for you to register and update your detail in the new system. Please ensure you do this - thank you.

Balmacewen Tennis Club
April 2022 Update

Hi all
It's hard to believe it is the end of March already. Below is a summary of what is happening at the club.
JUNIOR COACHING:
Wednesday coaching will now run through until Wednesday 13 April. This is to make up for the day lost to the weather and a lesson lost to Covid restrictions.
Friday coaching will go until Friday 8 April for the same reasons. There will also be a catchup lesson for Friday children (due to weather in term 4) this Sunday, 3 April. The times will be 4 pm and 5 pm (3.30 children please come at 4 pm). If you are a Wednesday coaching person who has not been able to attend due to illness etc. please feel free to come along to this Sunday's catchup as well.
SENIOR SOCIAL TENNIS:
We have now moved to winter hours starting this weekend. Social tennis is now at the club on Saturdays from 1 pm - 3 pm, and at the Edgar Centre (door charge applies) on Tuesday evenings from 6 pm - 8 pm.
PRIZEGIVING RECIPIENTS:
The Tennis Otago prizegiving was held on Sunday in glorious summer conditions. Huge congratulations to the following Balmacewen players who won awards at the prizegiving. Balmacewen Tennis Club was well represented in the honours awarded!
