The clubhouse is used by several local community groups and programmes. We aim to provide a venue for local groups to meet and run activities at a very competitive rate and are always happy to discuss with local groups how we can help them to continue offering a service to our local area.
If you have an idea for a new group or are struggling to find an affordable venue please contact the Club manager who will be able to assist.
Pilates
'Pilates2Be' at KTC
We're pleased to announce that after the closure of Matworks, Pilates is continuing at KTC with Pilates2Be.
Instructor, Saul Derber, (previously the Studio Manager at Matworks) will expertly guide you on your journey to move more freely, confidently and pain-free. Pilates has been proven to be the best mode of exercise for chronic back pain and any musculoskeletal niggles by strengthening, stretching and moving the whole body in all directions. Our very own Helen Langley swears by it and has this to share with anyone wondering whether Pilates2Be could up their game.
I’ve spent years protecting old injuries and becoming increasingly dependent on pain relief. Pilates has given me a refreshing alternative. They say, use it or lose it. I’m sure there were muscles I seldom used and as a tennis player relied heavily on the same limited muscles to keep me going. When I started pilates a few years ago the emphasis was on technique – so much so that the classes were not particularly interesting. With Saul however, the 45 minute sessions are challenging. They’re challenging in that you push yourself to the level you can manage on that particular day. Some days are better than others. It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or more experienced, each exercise is geared around what you are able to do. Saul will guide and encourage you to be the best you can be. Pilates with Saul has helped my flexibility, balance and core strength. On the tennis court I’m far more able to rotate and move more freely – but I’m still going to mishit that elusive ball!
Classes are 45 mins on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 7.15am and on Saturday 9am. Price is only $15 (on a 12 pack) or $20 casual rate. Classes also available at other locations and times. To find out more please contact Saul at saul@pilates2be.co.nz or 021 918 487.
Age is no barrier to learning, especially with Art. The Village Art Classes offer a full course of 15 sessions, or individual modules of 5 sessions each in Drawing, Sketching, Watercolours and Acrylics.
