Seniors Tournament

A huge thank you to Christine for getting this tournament across the line - yet again.  And to the volunteers and contributors who made it happen.  This is a major fundraiser for the club as well as being a well supported lawn tennis event.

Special thanks also to:

  • Philip Trusttum, who once again generously gifted the Club an artwork, for auctioning.
  • Michelle North-Kelson @ Elite Physiotherapy (elitephysio.co.nz) for her "always generous" donations of two huge gift baskets for our raffle table at the Masters Tournament;
  • Angela @ Rebalance Massage clinic, 32 Hayton Rd, Wigram (027 245 1687) - two x 1-Hour massage vouchers.
  • Bryce, Alex, Trevor and Gavin who made sure the rows were ready for the tournament.  A special mention for Mike Hagen-Peter who put many voluntary hours into trimming hedges and badly overgrown fence lines.  In recognition of his support he was awarded the Christina Van Leuwan cup.

Lucky Issi Thomson won the auction of Philip Trusttum’s art.

A huge Thank You to Terry, and one of our recent members,  who turned up late last year with a large vacuum cleaner, and managed to remove all the silty covering on court 8 and 9.

A couple of pics from Mid-Week tennis last year.  Spot the Pav!  Sharee delights our guests with her creation. Plus Deborah and Vicky celebrating a win at Avonhead…

Mid-week players visit and host these clubs, Redcliffs, Tai Tapu, Springston, Lincoln, Avonhead, Elmwood, Burwood, Waimairi, Cashmere, Halswell, Spreydon, Bishopdale and St Martins.

We hope you have all had great summer holidays and ready to get back to tennis (and school! )

Practice started this week, 30 January 2023 - same day and time as you attended in Term 4, with your team.

INTERCLUB DATES:

Term 1 starts Friday 10 February  to Saturday 26 March 2023 (7 rounds)

The draw will be available later this week.  There have been several new teams entered so there have been changes made to division sizes to ensure that grades are as even as possible.
Some teams may have changed divisions so check for your team name, and get in touch with Charlotte @ juniors@tkhptennis.nz if you can't find your team on a draw.

Warm regards
Hugo, & the Coaching Team

Hi all
Thanks everyone for your support last year. See two photos above.
We had ten Red Ball players on Saturday 17th December. There was a theme of Preston v Sinik with three kids from each family all well matched.
Div 1 had ages 6-8 with a variety of levels and game styles. The final match between Yonatan and Bella was exceptionally close with match points each way before BellaP finally clinched it.
Div2 had ages 9-12. The final match between Nicholas and Gil was hampered by injury which favoured Nicholas. The bragging rights will have to be settled with a full fitness rematch! Sharon took the quos for the Sinik contingent beating vana to take the best girl award.
The day was fabulous and the adjournment to the paddling pool after the doubles games was popular to freshen up before the singles.

Regards
Tim Preston
