Interclub Coaching and Matches
Dates for 2026-27 Season:
Practice starts week of Monday 12 October 2026 and finishes week beginning 7 December 2026
Practice recommences from either Monday 25 January, or Mon 1 Feb TBC!
- same day and time as you attended in Term 4, with your team.

Term 4 2026 (Pre-Xmas):
Starts 16-17 October
Labour Weekend (No Play)
Final pre-Xmas round is 11-12 December
Round 2 on 30-31 October
Round 3 on 6-7 November
(Following weekend is Tier 2 Canterbury Tournament)
Term 1 2027 (Post-Xmas):
Round 1 on 29/30 January
(No play on Waitangi Weekend)
Final round on 19-20 March
(Following weekend is Easter)
Cancellations:
Interclub Practice: The coaching team will make a decison approx 45 mins or earlier before your lesson. Cancellation is posted on our facebook page and if you do not have facebook, you can see the feed on our website home page – under social media.
Matches: Tennis Canterbury makes the decision, posts on facebook, and it also appears on their website www.canterburytennis.co.nz/cancellations.
How does Junior Interclub work: Interclub tennis is run by Tennis Canterbury. Interclub provides a competitive environment for Junior players between the ages of 9 and 18. All Chch Clubs enter teams of up of five players who compete in both single and double matches. Players are rostered for a stand down 1 week in 5, to allow for sickness or unavailability .
All parents of the team members are required to transport & supervise the team on a one in five roster basis. You must stay with the team for the duration of the matches.
Within each age group there are a number of divisions which helps us enter teams and players at an appropriate level. Each team is allocated a one hour weekly training session (Mon, Tues or Thurs) on an agreed day.
Matches are played on Friday nights and Saturday mornings (you choose one day) across a wide range of clubs and locations throughout the city. Interclub tennis is not only a great environment to further develop our junior tennis talent, it also provides an interesting mix of individual and team achievements.
