July Newsletter 2025

Hello members

Your Club, Your Voice – Get Involved!
A reminder our Annual General Meeting is coming up on 9 August, 3pm at the Clubhouse.  Please put this date in your calendar.  We warmly invite all members to attend. This is your club, and your voice matters – we’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas for the year ahead.

One important item to be presented is a new Club constitution. This has been updated to comply with the changes made to the Incorporated Societies Act and changes stipulated by Tennis NZ. The meeting must adopt these changes for the Club to retain its incorporated society status as well as our affiliation with TNZ.

We’re also looking for members interested in joining the committee or volunteering in other ways. Whether you have a specific skill or just a bit of time to lend a hand, there are many ways to contribute and connect.

Come along, get involved, and help shape the future of the club!

Our members have been enjoying the two new astro courts.  Despite all the recent wet weather these all-weather courts allow members to continue playing, particularly when the hard courts are unplayable.

The wet weather has necessitated the closure of the Club grounds to car parking to avoid further damage to the grass.  Please respond to the survey in this newsletter on the question of parking so the Committee can take our Members’ views into account when determining the future of this area.

A lot is happening in the pickleball area so please join one of the many organised sessions and give the game a go. The Club’s inaugural pickleball tournament is coming up on 24 August. Register before 14 August for your chance to play in this tournament and win one of the great prizes supplied by the Racquet Room.

Congratulations if you spotted the new shed which has been installed between courts 2 and 3 to store all the tennis coaching equipment.  This will free up space in the men’s change room.

Junior Coach News

Four Strong TKHP Junior players, Leon, Louis, Ray and Sakeri (TKHP+BurnsideTC) are on tour with TKHP coach Hugo, Bishopdale coach Gareth Robb and a group of Canterbury players competing in tournaments in Brisbane.

The Rod Laver Lead-In tournament has started and will be followed by the main event, the Rod Laver QLD junior championships.

These events attract the top talent from around Australia and NZ, so this is a really exciting opportunity for our guys.

Sending our best wishes to the team who are competing.
