OTAGO SECONDARY SCHOOLS TEAM EVENT 2024:
The Otago Secondary Schools Teams Event 2024 is on Wednesday 14 February. Entry is through your school sports coordinator.
Venue: Stevenson Tennis Centre, Logan Park Drive, Dunedin (if wet, the event will be moved to the Edgar Centre and there will be an extra $4.50 per player entry fee)
Cost: $20 per team (up to three players per team)

Player eligibility: All competitors must be in Year 9 or above and aged 19 years or under as at 1 January 2024. Players must also meet the criteria in the student eligibility section of the School Sport NZ Rules.
Playing order: Tennis NZ Match Hub bands are to be used to determine playing order within each team. (e.g. S7 player plays above S8 player). If you have two players in the same band they may play in any order but the playing order must remain the same throughout the tournament. Ranking is to be taken as at 31 January 2024. Tennis NZ Match Hub bands are not essential for entry, everyone is welcome.
Points Awarded: 1 per match won, 2 bonus points for winning the tie
The Tournament Director will endeavour to give each team the same number of ties (depending on entries).
Managers meeting: This will be at the Stevenson Tennis Centre at 8.15am on Wedensday 14 February.
SCHOOLS COACHING/COMPETITION TERM 1 2024:
Entry is now open through your school sports coordinator
Monday Year 4 - 8 Tennis
This six-week coaching and match play event starts on 12 February 2024 and runs until 18 March 2024 at the Stevenson Tennis Centre, 33 Logan Park Drive.
A staff member will be present at the Stevenson Tennis Centre throughout the event. The gate will be open from 3:40pm for teams/players to sign in.
We provide the tennis balls and age/stage appropriate equipment.
Tennis Otago will notify schools by no later than 2.30pm if tennis is cancelled. The school will then be responsible for communicating this to players. Cancelations will also be posted on the Tennis Otago Website.
Professional coaching is provided by M.A.T. Tennis Coaching.

Thursday Secondary Schools Tennis
This six-week after school programme for secondary school students starts on 15 February 2024 and finishes on 21 March 2024 at the Stevenson Tennis Centre, 33 Logan Park Drive.
Students have the choice of attending a coaching lesson with professional tennis coaches from MAT Tennis Coaching or playing in a friendly, timed, doubles competition as a two (or three) person team.
4.10 - 5.10 pm - coaching sessions. Students who take part in the coaching sessions are welcome to join in the social doubles competition at 5.15pm at no extra cost.
5.15 - 6.15 pm - doubles competition. The draw will be decided on the day. Students need to report to
the convenor at the 5:15pm to be assigned courts and their opponents. Two matches will be played each week, both 25 minutes long.
