Fundraising/Relocation

After 105 remarkable years on the same site, the time has come for the next chapter in the story of the Pakuranga Tennis Club.

For more than a century, our club has stood proudly at the base of Pigeon Mountain / Ōhuiarangi — a place rich in history, culture, and community spirit. The land our club calls home was returned to local iwi through the Tāmaki Collective settlement process, recognising the deep significance of this whenua to mana whenua and its enduring cultural heritage. While saying goodbye to a place that has been part of our identity for generations is emotional, we also recognise and respect the importance of this moment in Aotearoa’s story.

As one chapter closes, another incredibly exciting one begins. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to become part of a future multi-sports complex alongside the Pakuranga Bowling Club, Auckland Table Tennis Association, and Howick Gymnastics Club. Together, we are helping create a vibrant community sporting hub that will serve generations to come — a place where people of all ages can connect, compete, and belong.

This move has not happened overnight. It has been years in the making, involving countless conversations, planning meetings, ideas, and decisions. Through every stage of the journey, the entire club community has been involved. Members past and present, families, volunteers, supporters, and friends have all played a part in shaping what comes next.

Now, at long last, we have reached the exciting final stage of the journey: raising the funds needed to bring our new home to life.

What makes Pakuranga Tennis Club special has never been the buildings, the courts, or the location itself. It is the people. It is the friendships formed over decades, the Saturday morning matches, the junior coaching sessions, the shared laughs in the clubhouse, and the generations of families who have grown up with the club at the centre of their lives.

That is why, although we are moving locations, we are not leaving behind who we are. We carry with us our heart, our history, and our community. The spirit of Pakuranga Tennis Club will move with every member, every volunteer, and every supporter into this exciting new future.

After 105 years, we are not simply relocating — we are evolving. And together, as the Pakuranga Tennis Club family, we look forward to building the next 105 years.
