Spring News- Sept 1st

September 2nd  2022- Exciting Spring News!

Spring has sprung and if the improvement in weather doesn’t inspire you, we’re sure the action at the US Open will.  Serena’s swan song (or should we say fight song?) is not to be missed!  Can Rafa make it 23 at Flushing Meadows?

Tennis Auckland Awards

Congratulations to both President Lloyd Berryman and long-time Interclub Controller Sally Geary for earning Silver Awards!  The Silver Award recognises 10+ years of volunteer service to a club.  Thank you for your amazing efforts over the years and that continue on.  Ka pai!

Pt Chev was also awarded the Club Spirit Award for 21/22!  Tennis Auckland recognised the mahi we put in during the last season to make the club a family focal point during the tough Covid lockdowns. We came out of it in good shape with the restructured junior programme looking to grow further this season.  Special thanks to Head Coach Sergey and the team!

Quiz Night Recap

The first club fundraiser was a smashing success!  Over $1800 was raised for the lighting upgrade and much fun was had by all.  Both Jared Langguth and Anthony Marshall deserve a big shout out for all the work that went into the evening.  Thanks also goes out to all the other volunteers who assisted.

Garden Tidy

You will notice a much-improved parking area.  Thanks very much to the helpers that got stuck in for an early Sunday morning start to do some cutting back and clearing.  It’s important that we continue these little projects ourselves.  We can keep our subs lower that way.

ASB Classic

It’s back on in January 2023 with new Tournament Director, Nico Lamperin, at the helm.  Cameron Norrie and Coco Gauff are already confirmed to compete.  Visit www.asbclassic.co.nz to join the ticket waitlist and for all the latest info.

Love Tennis- Sunday 11th Sept 2022

Renewals & Keys

Keep them coming in please!   The 10% Early Bird discount will expire on 30th Sept so don’t miss out.  If you let your membership lapse, you won’t be able to book a court.  We will be changing over the court keys at the end of the month, so please dig yours out.  A replacement key costs $30.

New members

A special welcome to our recent new members.  This is the time of year new faces appear which is fantastic for the Club.

Well, back to the US Open now.  Let’s see what Serena and Venus can serve up this avo!
