Committee
The committee is responsible for the management of the tennis club and consists of the President, the Vice President, the Secretary, the Treasurer, the Club Captain and Co-Club Captain, the Mid-Week Ladies’ Convener, the Junior, Convener and up to nine (9) other individuals elected at the AGM.
The committee members are all volunteers to the club. Below is a brief blurb on the current members with some contact info.
John Palmer - Patron
John is the Club Patron and provides advice and guidance to the committee (alongside putting in a huge amount of work towards the court maintainence). He is a life member of the club and previous club president. John is very pleased to meet new members and help them get involved in the club. Contact John at 021 764484
Gareth Minshall - Secretary
I’ve been at the club for almost 10 years now (which is about as long as I have been playing tennis). I got involved in the committee as my daughter was being coaching by the amazing Luis and it seemed like I was at the courts 3 or 4 days a week. While on the committee I’ve taken up different roles including secretary, grants coordinator and junior tennis convenor and all have been pretty choice. Most of my tennis is played in short lunchtime or early evening hits and I love the great group of people at Lawn who are always keen for a run around. Phil Garden - Treasurer

Gail Paskin - Club Captain
I joined Tauranga Lawn when I arrived here from South Africa in 2003 and have now been a member for 22 years. This is my second year as one of the club captains, sharing the position with Peter Disney this year. I hope to get more members to play in the club championships and interclub teams. Turu Daniel - Committee member

Cecilia Senior - Committee member
Since moving to NZ in 2020, Cecilia has made Tauranga her home and tennis has been a big part of that journey! On court you’ll spot her proudly rocking her Pitau cap and T-shirt (she's part of the sales team). She loves meeting new people, having a good chat, and helping wherever she can. Carol Erickson - Committee member
Carol is our committee stalwart and has served for many years taking on different roles. At the club she looks after all the kitchen supplies and the licensing with council on the bar licensing, and has recently taken on the load updating our constitution and bylaws. Apart from tennis she enjoys body boarding.
Larry Edwards - Committee member & Bar manager
I joined the Club in the early 90’s and played on grass on the top courts (1-4) - a bit different to Astro. I was Club Captain when the original clubhouse burnt down. We had to administer the club from a caravan (supplied by a member Barry Kidd) until the new Club was built so this had its challenges. However the Club continued to grow. I now look after the Bar. It is a great club and has Tennis facilities that are the envy of other Tennis Clubs throughout New Zealand.
