Junior coaching
Luis Luna, our head coach, brings a wealth of experience. From coaching the Mexico National Junior team to some of NZ’s top junior tennis players, Luis' passion and dedication to the game make him an invaluable asset to our club.
Junior coaching
Junior group coaching sessions are available Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 3.30pm - 6pm during term 1 and term 4 with students grouped into small groups of between 6 and 10 players of similar levels.
The time of the coaching group will vary depending on what level your child is but generally children aged between 5 and 11 are coached from 3.30pm - 4:15pm, and more advanced coaching sessions run from 4.15pm to 6pm. On Friday afternoons the club runs junior club night. This is open to club members taking part in coaching and the focus is more on fun game play rather than on coaching technique.
Keen to sign up? There are a couple of steps
- Sign up for membership - This is $70 for the year ($35 for new players starting for the first time) which gives you access to the courts and club house whenever suits.
- Sign up for coaching - This is entirely optional but a great way to pick up the sport - you'll meet other kids playing at the same level and learn the right technique. You sign up for either a Tuesday or Thursday and both sessions also include an optional Friday afternoon session. The cost is $180 and covers weekly coaching in both term 4 and term 1.
Adult coaching
Adult group coaching courses are held from 6pm - 7pm on Wednesday evenings and Friday evenings. These sessions are called 'Rusty Racquets', are run in groups of 12 or less adults and each course lasts five weeks. Both the wednesday and Friday course are designed for people new to the sport or looking to dust of old skills and are a great way to get into tennis and meet new friends. As well as beginner courses we offer more advanced 'coaching clinics' for players who are more experienced. These are run on an adhoc basis typically with each course covering a particular topic .
