Clash of Clubs

Tennis Northland Presents: Northland Clash of the Clubs

When: 6–7 December

Where: Thomas Neale Family Memorial Tennis Park

Tournament Overview

It’s time for club vs. club competition. Represent your club in Tennis Northland’s newest end-of-year challenge: Clash of the Clubs. Whether you send your reigning champions or a crew of determined contenders, this weekend is all about club pride and great tennis. We’ll crown individual winners across all grades, and award the Northland Clash of the Clubs Shield to the top-performing club.

Will your club be the first name on the Clash of the Clubs Shield?

Event Format

  • Saturday 6 December: Singles Matches
  • Sunday 7 December: Doubles Matches
  • Singles Finals will be played on Sunday 7 December
  • Some doubles matches may be scheduled on Saturday if needed to fit the draw

Competition Categories

Clubs may enter as many players as they want in each grade. Choose your champions, or surprise underdogs, and send them to compete in:

  • Men’s Singles (A & B Grades)
  • Ladies Singles (A & B Grades)
  • Men’s Doubles (A & B Grades)
  • Ladies Doubles (A & B Grades)
  • Mixed Doubles (A & B Grades)

This can be your current club champions or a selection of gutsy club players willing to go head-to-head with other Northland clubs. Clubs may enter as many players as they want, with every place-getter contributing to the overall winning club.

We welcome as many entries as possible. If needed, clubs may be asked to reduce numbers slightly to ensure broad representation across Northland.

Note: Individual winners will also be recognised as Northland Champions. This event replaces the traditional Senior Closed Championships.

Match Format

  • Singles matches - first to 9 games with a super tiebreaker at 8 all (first to 10 points with a 2 point margin). Note: Singles finals will be best of 3 tiebreaker sets with a super tiebreaker (first to 10 points with 2 point margin) played instead of a third set.
  • Doubles matches - best of 3 tiebreaker sets with a super tiebreaker (first to 10 points with 2 point margin) played instead of a third set.

Normal tennis rules apply. Draws will be finalised once entries close.

Committee Challenge

Committee members get in on the fun too! Each club committee can nominate one representative to take part in a light-hearted Committee Challenge. The winner will win a prize for your club - choose your leader wisely and bring your A-game!

Cost

$20 per person, payable by cash or eftpos at the tournament – includes BBQ meal.
