Each year, clubs, coaches, and Regions and Associations collaborate by sharing the numbers of members, casual players, coaching participants, league players and everyone in between.
All your efforts add up to finding out the grand total of tennis participants which has been growing each year since 2016.

WHAT ARE WE ASKING YOU?
We ask you to report the number of ALL people playing tennis at your club.  Whether they are members, business house players, Cardio Tennis participants, casual bookers, Hot Shots kids – or anyone in between.

WHY?
Whether people play tennis casually once a year, drop into the club a bit over the summer, or are fully committed to practice three times a week PLUS interclub on a Saturday, we want to count them as part of our tennis community!  We want to shout loud about all the people who enjoy this great sport, and to be able to do that, we need to know as much about them as we can.

Sport NZ, funders, sponsors, local councils and boards, are all interested in how many people play tennis.  And the more we can tell those stakeholders about tennis the better.  Each year, we collect information about people playing at clubs and venues across NZ, to help paint a vibrant picture for tennis.

DOES THIS LINK TO FEES?
Tennis NZ does NOT charge clubs a per head affiliation fee.

Currently, Tennis NZ gathers affiliation fees from the regional organisations which help subsidise national products and programmes such as ClubSpark, national programmes, Davis and Billie Jean King Cup teams, MatchHub, coach development, club conferences, New Zealand’s ITF membership.  These affiliation fees have been fixed since 2018, and generally only go up annually by CPI.  The way regions and associations collect fees varies around the country, but Tennis NZ no longer bases affiliation fees on membership numbers.

KEY DATES
Participation and membership numbers are due to Tennis NZ by the end of July.

You will need to submit numbers of participants and members that were connected to your club between 1st July 2023 and 30th June 2024.
