Waikato Tennis Centre is the home of Waikato Tennis Trust, a not for profit charitable trust dedicated to developing, promoting and governing tennis across the Waikato region. Located within the Eastlink Community Hub, the Centre is a leading regional sporting venue and community asset, providing high quality facilities for tennis, events, programmes and a wide range of community use.
As the largest stakeholder within the Eastlink Community Hub, Waikato Tennis Centre offers an impressive range of facilities, including 11 outdoor hard tennis courts, and a 3 court indoor tennis arena and office spaces.
These facilities support not only tennis, but also a wide variety of sporting, school and community groups from across the region.
The Centre is home to a diverse range of users, including affiliated Waikato and Thames Valley tennis clubs, coaching programmes, Aotearoa Māori Tennis, disability sport organisations, school holiday programmes, schools, kura kaupapa Māori, and casual community users. This strong mix of activity reflects the Centre’s role as a true multi purpose sporting and community hub.
Waikato Tennis has a proud and longstanding history dating back to 1921, with the current Centre evolving over many decades into the important regional facility it is today. In recent years, the Trust has continued to strengthen the Centre’s long term future, including completing the Perry Arena loan and advancing plans to further improve connectivity and sustainability across the site.
Today, Waikato Tennis Centre supports strong regional participation and usage, with affiliated clubs across Waikato and Thames Valley, more than 1,100 registered members, significant indoor court usage, coaching programmes, tournaments, competitions, and partnerships with 15 different groups and sporting bodies. It is a venue that continues to serve players, clubs, schools and the wider community, while helping grow the game of tennis throughout the region.
