Regional Tennis Organisation (RTO)

What is a Regional Tennis Organisation (RTO)?

Waikato Tennis Trust is the official Regional Tennis Organisation (RTO) for the Waikato and Thames Valley region, working in partnership with Tennis New Zealand.

As an RTO, we play a key role in leading, supporting, and growing the game of tennis across our region.

Our Role in the Region

We work alongside clubs, coaches, schools, and community partners to ensure tennis is accessible, well organised, and thriving at all levels.

Our core focus areas include:

Supporting Clubs and Communities
We work closely with affiliated clubs to strengthen governance, support volunteers, and help create sustainable and welcoming environments for players.

Delivering Competitions and Events
We organise and support a wide range of competitions, including interclub, regional tournaments, and representative events that provide playing opportunities for all ages and abilities.

Player and Coach Development
We support player pathways from grassroots through to performance, alongside developing coaches and officials across the region.

Connecting with Tennis New Zealand
We act as the link between local tennis and national strategy, ensuring programmes, funding opportunities, and initiatives are delivered effectively within our region.

Managing Regional Facilities
We oversee key regional assets, including the Waikato Tennis Centre, ensuring high quality facilities are available for the tennis community.

Working Together to Grow the Game

Our role as an RTO is to bring the tennis community together, support our clubs, and create opportunities for more people to get involved and stay involved in tennis.

Whether you’re picking up a racquet for the first time or competing at a high level, Waikato Tennis Trust is here to support your journey.
