Membership Terms and Conditions
Richmond Tennis Club is responsible for the ongoing maintenance and development of the facilities and your membership fee is used to ensure that we continue to have great courts and lights to continue playing tennis. Another portion of your fee goes to Tennis NZ and Nelson Bays Tennis Association who support our local clubs and assist in developing tennis across the region.
When you pay your membership you are agreeing to abide by the following terms and conditions.
Membership of the Richmond Tennis Club is offered on the following terms and conditions:
Tennis Purposes Only - The tennis courts at the venue are only to be used for the purpose of recreational tennis. Professional coaching on the tennis courts may not take place, other than by the club coach and by approved persons, who have the prior written agreement of the Club. You are not permitted to use the tennis courts at the venue for any activity other than recreational tennis without prior written agreement of the Club.
Safety - It is a condition that users of the tennis courts undertake to use the facilities in a safe and cautious manner at all times.
Risk Warning - You acknowledge that by using the tennis courts and club facilities you will be exposed to certain risks, including the risk of physical injury, and that use of the tennis courts and facility is entirely at your own risk. You have voluntarily read and understood this risk warning and accept and assume the inherent risks in use of the tennis courts and facilities..
Release - To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to release and discharge the Club and its directors, officers, employees, volunteers and agents from all liability in respect of any loss or damage you may suffer from use of the tennis courts and facilities.
Registration through Club Spark - The club uses a Clubspark for its administration of membership. We require that members register and pay through Clubspark. You can pay with debit card or internet banking. We do accept cash but do prefer internet banking. Registering with clubspark lets us contact you with notices, newsletters and updates of what is happening at the club.
Love Tennis Membership - There are 2 Love Tennis discounted membership packages available for the Love Tennis open day 2023 - Adult Social 18 - 64 @ $84.00 and Family Social 2 Adults and 2 children @ $180.00. The packages are only available on the day - 10 September 2023 and are for NEW registrations only.
Club Rules - Members must obey the Club Rules, which are contained in Club Constitution and the General Rules. General Rules are displayed on court fencing and on clubhouse notice boards.
Visitors - May attend Saturday club days and Tuesday Night Social Doubles on three occasions before that person will be required to become a member of the club. The visitor fee is $5 per person per visit.
Casual Users - Casual users will need to book and pay through Book a Court. If they accompany a member the member will be responsible for ensuring the court booking fee is paid.
Court Care - Members are required to take care of the courts. Play is not permitted on any court if water is pooling or the playing area is soft or slippery due to rain or wind.
Use of Lights - Lights are not included in your membership. They are available to use with payment through the coin system on courts 1 & 2 and it is $10 per hour.
To use the lights outside court 1&2 you must notify the treasurer and log with them the number of hours you wish to use the courts for and you will be invoiced payment is within 2 days by internet banking. No credit card facilities available
If you are playing interclub, the light fee is included in the interclub fee.
Behaviour and Dress - Misbehaviour, bad language, racquet or equipment abuse will not be tolerated. Vandalism or theft will result in instant expulsion. Members are encouraged to report any acts of misconduct.
Suitable tennis attire is required for all competition play. Suitable tennis shoes must always be worn. (no heels, ripple or stipple soles).
Player Etiquette - Please take all your rubbish with you and leave the tennis courts and facilities tidy for the next players to use and enjoy. The club rooms must be left clean and tidy after use – glasses, crockery and utensils washed and stored in cupboards and any mess cleaned up and rubbish disposed of.
Smoking is not permitted within the venue, including on the tennis courts.
Court Allocation - Courts are allocated for competition, social, team practice and coaching. Except during finals, club championships and special events, play is permitted during competition times, provided a court is available.
Security - Gates and clubroom are to be shut after entering and leaving the courts except during times of competition and coaching.The last person leaving the facilities must ensure that the lights, fans and heater etc are turned off in the clubrooms, and that the clubrooms and both gates are locked
Access to the courts - A gate swipe access card / pin code is included in your membership which gives you access to the courts only. If you renew your membership you do not get a new card / pin code, your current card / pin code will be reactivated. If you do not renew your membership by 31 October your card / pin code will be deactivated. If you lose your swipe card a replacement card is $15 you will be invoiced and payment is by internet banking via the bank account on the invoice.
Access to the clubrooms is via a key in a combination box and the code is available on request to the secretary of the club.
Interclub Play - Members are invited to register for selection in teams for interclub competition. Senior teams play Monday morning and then Monday to Thursday evenings. Junior competition plays on Friday night and Saturday morning.
Cancellation of membership - Members found not to be abiding by these Terms and Conditions may be warned and, in serious or repeated breaches, may face cancellation of membership. This will be entirely at the discretion of the Club Committee.
