Want to play some tennis?
Our courts are available for anyone to play on. The best way to get access is to become a member and you will get the gate code and can play on the courts whenever they are free. If you are not a member, you can pay a casual rate of $10 per person per hour. There is a deposit box at the club that you can put cash in, or you can just deposit it into the club bank account: 06-0583-0477897-00.
What's on
Monday
Business House tennis: Pre- and post-Christmas rounds. Teams comprise four players, playing doubles, two matches per night. This is also open to non-members.
Mid-week ladies' interclub: In the morning, teams of four play doubles against teams from the other clubs of the Western Bay of Plenty.
Tuesday
Men’s Tuesday Tennis: Starting at 9 a.m. and running through to midday. Tennis doubles
morning is for male players of all abilities.
Junior Coaching: Starting at 3:30 p.m. for those signed up.
Wednesday
Mid-week ladies: Starting at 9 a.m. and running through to midday. All playing abilities are welcome with an emphasis on friendly social tennis with a break for morning tea.
Singles club play: Games start at 6pm, with three 30 minute rounds of social and mildly competitive play. Format is king/queen of the court - the player who wins the most games moves up a court at the end of the round, and the other player moves down. Players of all levels welcome as well as juniors 13+. Players from other clubs can also participate with a ball fee of $5. Contact Gareth (021 241 6572) for more info.
Rusty Racquets Coaching: Rusty Racquets is an hour long coaching session for beginner and intermediate adult players. It is designed for those coming back to tennis or just starting out. It is a fun session run by our head coach, Luis Luna.
Thursday
Thursday morning tennis: From 9 a.m. to midday for both men and women. There is a board in operation with the tennis slightly more graded, whilst still maintaining a social atmosphere.
Junior Coaching: Starting at 3:30 p.m. for those signed up.
Friday
Interclub: Organised by Tennis Western BOP. Interclub is played both pre- and post-Christmas (October – March) with graded teams of 4 players.
Junior Coaching: Starting at 3:30 p.m. an optional session for all signed up to either coaching day.
Saturday
Saturday Club Day: Starting at 1 p.m. through to 4 p.m. All senior players and nominated junior players are very welcome. We run a board and games last around twenty-five minutes, which gives players a variety of matches.
Other
Club Championships: Senior and junior competitions against other club members. Singles, doubles, and mixed doubles are played each year.
WBOP Tournaments: Their are many tournament run around the WBOP, with some at our club. All members can play in any of these tournaments.
