Nelson Bays Tennis Association (NBTA) Committee strives to align Nelson’s regional tennis operations with Tennis New Zealand's policies and national programmes.
Promoting the Game of Tennis to Everyone
Position Statement
At NBTA our vision is support people playing the game of tennis in our community. Tennis is at our heart, and we seriously take our responsibility to promote the game of tennis to everyone. We believe tennis is a game for people of all ages, abilities, and of different backgrounds.
At NBTA, we promote and create opportunities for regional events from Interclub competitions to inter-regional challenges, cup events through to supporting open-days. We believe every event enables people to have fun and develop connections within the community.
We are committed to growing these beliefs with an approach that elevates NBTA’s presence within the tennis community. Utilising the competitions and events that have been successful over the years and in time creating new opportunities. This approach, applied consistently, will help NBTA improve and adapt, as we aim to support participant growth.
We recognise that our operations have not always met our own or others' expectations, and we are committed to doing better in the future. As we move forward, we have a renewed commitment to improving our procedures by providing greater transparency and increasing our communication. Previously there has been a deficit in these areas that has not served our key stakeholders, the clubs and wider tennis community, of this region well, nor us.
As the new year begins, our committee is also starting over. 2025 sees the NBTA committee rebuilding with new committee members, and the committee is striving to dismantle ineffective processes and the narrative of the past. We ask you to join us, and support us, in moving regional tennis forward by engaging with curiosity, positivity, openness, and kindness to make a positive difference as we endeavour to foster an ethos of respect and collaboration in our community.
We are dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels informed and connected to the region’s tennis.
