Junior interclub is played on a Saturday morning throughout Dunedin, which is run by Tennis Otago each week.
Juniors receiving coaching can join a club competition team to play in Term 1 2025. Just need to be able to serve, rally the ball and keep score. It is important to continue with the coaching as well.
If new to the club please make contact with the Junior Captain. Players from last season keen to play this season need to let their Junior Captain know
All grades are played with Technifibre balls being the regional ball sponsor.

Match Play
The purpose of this matchplay series is to create a developmental pathway to ensure all players have a positive experience on court, developing mental & physical skills through matchplay.
Introduction of different matchplay formats specifically designed for a fun focus that supports lots of point play, learning to compete, different ways of scoring while being part of a team an as an individual player.
Learning tennis etiquette - shaking hands, keeping the score, learning to win and lose graciously.
Players will play a mixture of singles and doubles, with each match being time to 40 minutes each.
Please note, tennis not a timed sport officially. This is modified event to create meaningful event.
Location: Balmacewen Tennis Club
Warm up: 8:50am (Report time)
Start time: 9am
Finish time: 10:30am
Format:
Players will play two rounds of 40 minutes matches. Depending on entires at each event players will play both a singles and doubles or play two of the same.
Matches will be played up to 9 games, long deuce.
Players are to self umpire with the support of the on court supervisor which will be named each week.
Self umpire requires players to call lines, lets, faults and keep track of the score.

Tennis Hot Shots – Fun Starts Here!
This is the NZ and ITF endorsed success based match play format for players in Hot Shots programmes.
Get your kids into the game with Tennis Hot Shots, the perfect introduction to tennis for children aged 8 - 14 years old. Designed to build skills, confidence, and a love for the sport, our sessions are packed with fun drills, games, and plenty of laughs!
• Who: Kids of all skill levels
• What: A fun, safe, and engaging tennis program
Players will start to learn the rules and the etiquette of Tennis including handshakes, fair play, competing, simple scoring and winning and losing with resilience. The format has children playing singles while being part of a team competing together every session.
Watch your little ones grow on and off the court.
These events are run through the term along side other club.
