Club Captain & Coaching Captain

The Balmacewen Tennis Club needs your help if possible. Sarah Stevenson has decided, after 11 years of great service as the Club Administrator and Coaching Coordinator, to step down from the role. I'm sure you will agree Sarah has done a great job and we thank her very much. Sarah will still be helping the Club in other ways.

Starting in July, there are still two important roles that need to be filled at the Club, for which training will be provided. We are very lucky to already have volunteers looking after the Club's other important roles.

Two more volunteers are needed.

Club Captain: this involves, on average, four hours a week during the season and one hour per week off season. They are the Contact for the club. They will be familiar with the Membership options and liaising with all who help run the club.

Coaching Captain: this involves on average four hours a week during the season and one hour a week pre-season. They will be the Coaching Contact for the club. They help set up Coaching Groups, liaise with the Head Coach, and others who help run the club.

Benefits include meeting many different people, including the Club Committee, Club Members, Tennis Otago as well as the business and general community.

It is a worthwhile volunteering role in the community and a way of giving back, helping our Club.  Skills gained will be a useful addition to anyone's CV.

If you are interested please contact me at peter@balmactennis.co.nz in confidence. I have a more detailed Job Description I can send you.

Thank you

Peter Dick

Court Information April 2024

The top Astroturf courts can be slippery after heavy rain, especially the BMW court far end where all the water drains away.  Sunshine dries them out quickly and then they are no longer slippery, but we haven't had much sunshine which is unusual. We are having all three courts professionally groomed in April.

The lower Plexipave hard courts have been cleaned but not completely. It is a big job and many voluntary hours have been spent so far on getting this far, thanks Peter E.
