Tournament Squad
There are three key components to developing a good level and understanding of playing tennis that have equal importance.
One - hitting lots of balls.
Two - technical skill development.
Three - matchplay.
The Tournament Squad is a starting point for players who want to commit to improving their level of tennis, allowing for various ages, and flexibility in training options. It is not a Performance training program, but maybe led to performance training if the progress and desire exists.
Eligibility criteria
- 7 years old and over
- be able to complete a 16 shot neutral rally with the coach (using the balls relative to their level)
- get 50% of serves in from ten balls
Commitment required
- attend two coaching sessions per week (this could be any combination of groups, squads or privates)
- compete in a teams competition (for example Interclub, or Orange League)
- compete in a minimum of three tournaments over the year, this should include the Central Region Tier 3 (October) and the KUTC Club / Junior Champs (end of season)
Incentives
- show competency in ten selected tasks (combination of strokework, footwork, strength / stability, strategy) to receive a Tournament Squad T-Shirt (technical focus and assessment may be taken aside during group lessons or during private sessions)
- competency in a further ten tasks to receive a further reward (such as CTF Drink Flask or CTF Cap, depending on availability)
- complimentary preparation session prior to the Central Region Tier 3 Tournament
- complimentary tournament coaching at the Central Region Tier 3 Tournament
