Ngataringa Tennis Club and The Game work in partnership to provide our members with great coaching opportunities.
The Game, is a professional tennis coaching team focused on the fundamentals of tennis. The Game currently provides coaching at Ngataringa, Campbells Bay, Orakei and West End tennis clubs and a number of Secondary Schools in Auckland. Founded to provide a complete programme for tennis players of all ages and abilities. The Game's goal is to help you master the essentials of the game in a simple and effective way. We offer private, group and fun drill style tennis sessions.
At Ngataringa Tennis Club (NTC), the Head coach Pato and his team of Remi, Tiphaine, Gage, and Finn run group and private lessons throughout the week. Read more about our coaching team HERE.
Private Coaching - If you're interested in private lessons sessions please send The Game an email HERE or message/call Shannon on 022 898 1212. We can offer 1:1 or, if sufficient demand, shared private coaching sessions.
Junior Coaching- The Game have a number of group lessons for tiny tots 3-5 years old, and 5+ throughout the week all throughout the year. Each lesson category has a specific ability level. Our coaches will assist in placing children in the correct groups. Racquets can be borrowed or purchased. The current schedule can be viewed and booked HERE.
Junior club members have one weekly group lesson in terms 1 and 4 included in their annual junior membership fee. This coming season , commencing 01 September 2026, we are improving the junior group coaching programme to make it more flexible and provide lessons more closely aligned to players ability. The Game will have 1 hour lesson slots from 330pm through to 630pm through the week to accommodate the various age and ability groups. Instead of having group lessons scheduled by age, gender or interclub team - which is very difficult to cater for, lessons will be offered across several time blocks each week and during each time block the juniors will be coached on different courts according to their ability. This will have a number of benefits. Firstly, it will give much more flexibility for parents balancing other commitments as there will be multiple lessons to choose from each week. Secondly, coaching juniors by their ability will allow much more targeted and effective coaching which will improve the development of their skills and abilities. Thirdly, it will allow the juniors to easily move up ‘grades’ as their game develops. Offering multiple sessions each week will allow friends, siblings, and teams to still be able to attend coaching at the same time, but they may be in different coaching groups on the courts if their abilities don’t align.
The cost for junior membership including 18 weeks of coaching has increased to $390 this year. This is a reflection of the costs to deliver both the coaching and general club facilities and tournaments that all juniors can use.
The group coaching with The Game will start on 12 October and to be eligible for this great deal you need to sign up as a club member by 30 September. After you sign up The Game will be in touch with the coaching times and more detail of how it will work.
This year we are also offering a junior membership that does not include the 18 weeks of group coaching. This will provide flexibility for juniors who don’t want coaching, or take private coaching. They will still be able to play interclub and participate in club events and the club champs. The cost for this will be set at $200.
